While LeNS has been a valuable tool in the past for tracking patient activity such as ER visits, admissions, and discharges, we are now encouraging the use of eNotifications through Ontario MD HRM (Health Report Manager). eNotifications provides much of the same information as LeNS provides, however delivered directly and efficiently to your EMR. This makes LeNS largely redundant.

OntarioMD:

The preferred method going forward is eNotifications when using a physician EMR.

Why eNotifications are preferred:

Timely updates on patient hospital encounters without requiring manual logins.
Integrated workflow within Health Report Manager, reducing the need for multiple systems.
Flexibility: Physicians can choose to opt out if they prefer fewer notifications, helping manage inbox volume.

ClinicalConnect:

If eNotifications are not integrated with your EMR or you do not use an EMR, ClinicalConnect provides an effective alternative:

Real-time access to hospital encounters (ER visits, admissions, discharges).
Comprehensive patient information including labs, imaging, consult notes, and discharge summaries.
Customizable census views and filters to track inpatient, discharged, or ED encounters.
Ensures continuity of care and reduces gaps when automated notifications are unavailable.

As we continue discussions about retiring LeNS, the preferred approach is to transition to eNotifications if you have an EMR. If this is not an option, ClinicalConnect can provide easy access to real-time census lists and patient records from acute care facilities in Southwestern Ontario.
